If you want to Refresh or Reset your PC, or fix
a problem using Windows 8’s advanced tools, you can use the operating system’s
‘Advanced startup options’. To access them, press Windows+X, select Command
Prompt andtypeshutdown.exe /r /o /f
/t 00.
Press Enter and your computer will reboot into the ‘Advanced startup options’
menu, giving you the option to Continue, Troubleshoot or ‘Turn off your PC’.
Select Troubleshoot to access Windows 8’s diagnostic and repair tools,
including Safe Mode.
For quicker access to the Advanced startup
options, you can set a shortcut
that reboots your computer into this menu.
Right-click the Desktop, choose New, Shortcut and in the box labeled Type the
location of the item’, type shutdown.exe /r /0 /f /t 00. Click Next to name the shortcut.
