Google Earth is a fantastic
program packed with features, but if you want to try an alternative, there’s
Marble. This open-source virtual globe and world atlas lets you view the Earth
from space, complete with real-time clouds and sun shadow. Marble also offers

Zoom in and you can view our world
as an atlas, or at Street level using OpenStreetMap (www.openstreetmap.org). You can
search for places, find out about a particular location by looking it up on
Wikipedia, create routes and measure the distance between two points. Marble
also lets you switch between satellite, topographic and education views.
