Creating windows vista, windows 7, windows 8 bootable pendrive is easy with few commands or with tools for making bootable pendrive. Creating bootable windows XP pen drive has always been tough stuff for geek because there are lots of tools available on web to create bootable pendrive of windows XP but none of them really worked. I'm telling you this beacause i tried most of them but after some research I got a working trick which creates bootable pendrive of windows xp.
Now I'm going to tell step by step working method of how to create bootable pendrive for windows xp:-
1- First download a tiny tool called "flash-drive-prep zip". After downloading extract it with any zip or rar extractor ( I recommend winrar).
2- After extracting, go to usb_prep8 folder inside the flash drive prep.
3- Click on PeToUSB application. Click run if windows prompt.
4- Insert your pendrive and click on refresh. Then click on start, now your flash drive will be formatted.
5- Go to run type cmd which open a command prompt.
6- Go into bootsect folder which is inside the flash drive prep folder through command line. (Use cd command for this).
7-Now you should be in bootsect directory. Type bootsect.exe/nt52 h: and hit enter. (Here h is the letter of your pendrive. Change it by your's.).
8- Close the command prompt.
9- Close the PeToUsb application.
10- Now a command prompt should be open automatically, if not, go to flash drive prep folder then go inside usb_prep8 folder and here will be a command script file usb_prep8. Double click on usb_prep8 command script.
11- Again PeToUSb application will be launch, just click on close.
12- After closing PeToUSB, a command prompt will be open. Press any key.
13- Press 1. Now it will ask you to give the path of your windows installation files. Give the path of your CD-ROM. (Here you must insert windows xp installation disk in CD-ROM).
14- Now, Press 2. Give any letter for TempDrive and hit enter.
15- Press 3 and give the letter of your pendrive and hit enter.
16- Press 4 to copy installation files to flash drive. Follow the simple instructions on screen.
17- Done. Now you have a bootable windows xp pendrive.
