Google’s maps are high quality and
very detailed, which can eat into your bandwidth allowance if you’re using
mobile broadband. You can download one or more areas for offline viewing, using
GMapCatcher (bit.ly/gmap328). Explore the map by clicking and dragging, or
using the slider to zoom in. You can also search for a particular location to
display a map of the relevant area, then select Offline to disconnect from the
Google server. You can zoom in and out, add markers to the map and switch
between standard, satellite and terrain views. When you’ve got the map area you
want, click the Tools button and select Download or Export.
