AVG like most anti-virus companies updates its products every year, and an
interface makeover is usually included among the changes. AVG Free 2013 gained
a Windows 8 Modem UI-styled front rnd. and the security company has decided to keep
this for the Latest release, making minimal changes to the design.
In
fact, the only real difference to AVG in this release is the inclusion ol
Mobile Apps arid Tablet Apps tiles, replacing the single Mobile Protection tile
from last year. When clicked, these tiles directly access AVG’s growing
selection of security apps. These include AVG AntiVirus Free for Android, AVG
Safe browser for Phone and Pad, arid AVG Cleaner for Android.
You
can switch between Android, Windows Phone arid iOS apes depending on which
devices you own. Its
not just the interface that's largely, stayed the same For a major release. AVG Free 2014 is
surprisingly light on changes and new features - perhaps adhering to the
adhering if ain't broke, don’t
fix it. Obviously, as
always. AVG claims the update delivers better detection rates, arid there have
been a number of tweaks to the software’s engine. The sole notable addition in this release is the Inclusion of an
Integrated fIle shredder that you can use to securely delete personal data and
prevent anyone from accessing or recovering it. You’ll find this feature in the Windows
right-dick menu.
When
installing AVG Free 2014, make sure you select the Custom option. This lets you
decline the AVG toolbar, if not required. and
stop the software making changes to your browser’s search page.
